Virgil Abloh’s Last Collection

1 minute

Virgil Abloh was fashion designer appointed in 2018 to the Louis Vuitton fashion house. Abloh died on November 28, 2021, days before his Spring-Summer 2022 line showcased in Miami. Ib Kamara was the lead creative director from Daze magazine to display Abloh’s Fall-Winter 2022 collection. Abloh’s previous collection showcases included dream-like and youthful aesthetics. Ib Kamara wanted to make sure that the showcase included themes from Abloh’s previous showcases and that it seemed as if Abloh designed the set.

The design of the showcase space is reminiscent of Abloh’s work since 2018 when he was appointed to style Louis Vuitton’s menswear. His last collection was almost complete when he passed away. There was little to no alterations to Abloh’s original designs. This collection included Abloh’s interests with dreams and a sense of home. His clothing designs are inspired works from his past designs before and during his time with Louis Vuitton. Virgil Abloh’s last collection at the Paris Fashion Week is a visual culmination for his life’s work. It is a magnificent tribute to the inclusivity that Abloh introduced to the luxury design world. With his efforts, streetwear entered luxury design fashion houses and expanded the definition of “luxury design”.

Below are a few styles presented in the show.
