About two weekends ago was the mark of the 64th annual Grammy awards. This blog post about the Grammy fashion comes a little bit late, but that doesn’t take away from the remarkable looks that were worn and they deserved to be talked about! Whether it was Dua Lipa’s stunning Gianni Versace’s fall 1992 lineup dress or Lenny Kravitz serving his usual rockstar look with leather
pants, black leather heeled boots and Chainmail top– the Grammys looks did not disappoint! Among these looks, there were a lot of trends that appeared on the red carpet and these are two of my favorite trends worn by women:
1.) Minimalist Slip Dresses
When you think of award shows, you usually think of celebrities wearing extravagant statement pieces. At this year’s Grammys, Hailey Bieber and Addison Rae rocked very minimalist slip dresses and it still said a lot without saying too much! Hailey wore a strapless, floor lengetherd Saint Laurent column dress that was complemented by 18-karat gold and diamond jewelry. The jewelry she wore included Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard necklaces, a T1 ring, and when she moved her face framing pieces of her hair, you can see that she is also wearing stunning drop earrings. Hailey’s look was very elegant chic that was definitely giving off bridal vibes! The jewelry she wore really elevated the look to help give the romantic, but effortless cool-girl vibe. Very similarly, Addison Rae wore a floor length Nili Lotan ivory-colored silk cami slip dress with various silver cuff bracelets by Jennifer Fisher. Addison’s dress had all the soft springtime elements like long, skinny shoulder straps and silk, breathable material, but it was also paired with chunky silver bracelets that made the look appear more edgy. Addison’s look was very
simple, but definitely showed that she also has a punk rock side like her boyfriend who appeared on the red carpet with her, Omar Fedi. See both of these looks below:
2.) Gloves
Gloves really started being seen on Tiktok in the winter of 2021 and I’m glad they made their way to the 2022 Grammys, because I am all here for it! Celebrities like Olivia Rodrigo, Saweetie and Kourtney Kardashian all incorporated gloves into their red carpet looks and definitely put the Tiktok trend in the mainstream. Olivia served a very goth inspired look with her black satin Vivienne Westwood (my favorite designer) gown. This gown had a very romantic and sexy off-the-shoulder neckline with corset torso and hot pink rhinestone detailing. Like the previously mentioned celebrities, Olivia’s accessories really added to the gothic look with her chokers that perfectly matched her gown and, of course, her gloves. The opera gloves served to dramatize the look and catch your attention by transforming a fun and flirty dress into something a little more darker and mature. Similarly, both Saweetie and Kourtney Kardashian both rocked the gloves with Saweetie wearing a matching set from Valentino’s fuchsia collection and Kourtney wearing a black jumpsuit from Et Ochs’s fall/winter 2022 collection. Saweetie wore fuschia upper arm gloves that matched her monochromatic outfit and Kourntey wore black sheer gloves to go with her jumpsuit. Both of these it girls elevated the elegance and sophistication of their outfits by incorporating pieces from the renaissance era to their modern looks. The gloves are new, fun and add a little bit of gothic to any look and after seeing these trendsetting women wear them, I know we’ll be seeing a lot more of them further in the year. See the looks below:
How do you feel about the glove trend? Do you think we’ll be seeing a lot more of them in the winter of 2022?
