Eva is a senior double major in Economics and Textiles and Apparel. During her childhood, Eva’s grandmother taught her how to sew. This led her into becoming very creative as she grew older by taking art classes in high school and having her own mask-making business.
When it comes to her creative process, Eva is heavily inspired by 2D items due to her background in art. Going through pinterest, becoming inspired by other people’s collections, and places that she likes led her to base her collection off of southern houses. Eva is inspired by New Orleans and the Rainbow Row houses in Charleston, shot-gun architecture is super prevalent there. “The idea is that each one of my looks is that each one is a house, and then the under parts are like the details on the inside or like the shutters on the outside,” said Eva. Two of her looks have a long wool boxy coat, while the other two have short wool boxy coats, representing the outside of the house. One main theme of this collection is transparency, so every garment has some sort of transparency aspect to it. The colors are consistently shown at least twice: blue, pink, yellow, and green.
When asked about Eva’s favorite piece of architecture that she has implemented into her designs, Eva said: “I think my favorite piece was probably the entirety of Rainbow Row, because that’s where I took my exact colors from.”
