Savannah Holloway, third-year Textiles and Apparels major, finds that she gravitates more towards tailored and classic pieces, yet doesn’t stray away from also producing more theatrical pieces. The combination of the two contrasting themes provided her with a strong foundation for Holloway’s collection.
Holloway’s creative process for this particular collection was mainly built off of the desire for her to create this overtly large puffer jacket. Using this as her foundational piece, she solidified her other designs with the similar streetwear style look that she planned for.
After deciding to center her collection around that one piece, she worked towards gathering fabric that would pair well with the patterns she had in mind. Holloway also uses inspiration from media and designs from her everyday; one of her most prominent inspirations of the year comes from her love of Poor Things.
“I kinda started out in the beginning of my design journey making avante-garde pieces” said Holloway, which seeps into her creative process today and the unique designs she is willing to create.
