Violet is a senior Textiles and Apparel major at UT Austin. During her childhood, Violet’s grandmother taught her how to sew, and her dad owned a business that sparked her interest in math, inspiring her to become a TXA major.
When it comes to her creative process, Violet likes to drape her fabric to see what looks good and what she likes. Her collection is inspired by her mother, Violeta, which is a tribute to her mother that reflects her elegance and sweetness. Violet’s collection is mainly tweed, chiffon, and flowy fabrics that are inspired by Coco Chanel. Violet is excited to see her collection come to life on the runway.
At the beginning of her journey as a TXA major, basic skills like sewing a straight line were difficult for her, but now she has grown and created her own collection. When asked about how the use of purple and black guided her design process, Violet said: “I wanted to incorporate that violet without it overpowering, so that’s why I just added accents of it and just see where it would look nice.”
