Ailed Delgado, third-year Textiles and Apparels major with a focus on apparel design at UT Austin, is someone who enjoys a lot of color in her life. Delgado has always been attracted to fun textures, colors and designs, and finds that this has seeped into her day to day lifestyle with the clothing she wears and the outfits she decides to put together.

For Delgado’s creative process, she typically begins by drafting out designs that she would love to wear and wants to bring into fruition. She draws inspiration from what she would like to see come to life, and puts pen to paper to sketch out the designs. Delago’s collection is far more than just a means of expression, instead it represents a deeper connection of her life so far. “I’ve designed the looks for every stage of my life and it’s sort of like a self reflection of not only who I am and who I have been, but also who I want to be,” said Delgado. She realized that after creating the designs she couldn’t exactly fit any of these pieces into one mold, which ultimately led to her overarching theme of self representation.

“It’s a whole different thing to see it come to life,” said Delgado when sharing how she views the whole process coming to an end. Delgado expresses the liberating feeling that she believes comes with showcasing her designs, and is ready for that weight to be lifted from her shoulders.
