UFG in Action: Members Work Behind The Scenes At Local Fashion Shows

Over the weekend, the University Fashion Group Model Committee volunteered at two local fashion shows.

On November 12th, the model committee volunteered at the Neiman Marcus fashion show presenting A.L.C. The show was followed by a luncheon and shopping experience. The show was a fundraiser for the Mack, Jack & McConaughey organization. Another notable fashion sponsor included Kendra Scott, who also supplied the earrings featured on the models.

This was the first in-person fashion show outside of the University that the model committee was able to help out at. Their primary job was to help dress the models in their second look. The model committee members worked collaboratively as each model walked off the runway. Although the transitions were fast, our members were able to keep up and successfully dressed each model in their second looks.

After the show was over, the model committee had to rehang the clothes and accessories. Each outfit was assigned a number that was matched with Kendra Scott earrings. Then, the members were able to take pictures on the runway!

On November 13th, the model committee volunteered at the Whole Lotta Drip Fashion Show. This show featured local designers. The show was sponsored by Ties Barbershop, Niyah Symonee Beauty, Moretta LLC & Cking&co.

At this event, model committee members got more hands on. Some members were checking in vendors and sponsored guests in the show. During the show, members also helped dress each of the models. This show was unique because it featured collections from several designers. This is also the same model our Senior Collection end of the year Fashion Show will display each design.

Beyond gaining experience in fashion shows, the model committee was able to bond with each other. The shows offered a way for each member to trust and collaborate with each other. They also offer great avenue for networking with fashion industry professionals. If you are interested in fashion shows or seeing the behind the scenes of the fashion world, join the model committee! There will be more opportunities to help out with local fashion shows throughout the year. It would also provide practice if you are planning to attend New York Fashion Week in February.

University Fashion Group would like to thank the model committee members and volunteers for representing the organization at these shows! You all are amazing!
